Traveling to Ardgroom

We left Baltimore after breakfast, spent some time watching the folks get ready for their races with the small sailboats.  In Skibbereen, just up the road, we enjoyed the Farmers market - specifically looking for Gubbeen cheeses which we found! We also found a cute dog!
Visited Aldi for some groceries, then motored on to Kenmare for afternoon lunch at the Purple Heather. It's a favorite of ours, one we had visited several times on our last trip. Everything looks the same after 12 years!
Busy in Kenmare, folks shopping and just wandering around. Enjoyable as long as you're not in a hurry. We'll be back there for shopping and dining.
On to Ardgroom, narrower roads and some places with no road markings, making an exciting driving experience even more exciting! But we made it. Met up with our landlord, who led us to the cottage. Turns out it was his Grandfather's house, so we had a bit of history lessons.
Right now the wind is gusting up to 25+ mph blowing sheets of rain. Supposed to blow over by tomorrow. The cottage is solid, no air leaks. Windows are double-paned and a fire was burning in the stove when we arrived.
Tomorrow will arrive on it's own and we'll decide what to do then!

Fuchsia everywhere - along the road, in gardens..

A parting shot of the Baltimore harbor with the small sailboats getting ready for the regatta..

Skibbereen Farmers Market - I couldn't resist the dog.

After the farmers market we visited this strange looking building (strange to Ireland countryside)..it has an excellent display and presentation of Famine facts and art.  Very moving. We're told that there was much controversy about the building also, it appears to be be rusted steel (Corten, I think).

Colorful buildings

Spotted this Great Blue hunting in the canal shown in the photo of the rusted metal building. Right in the middle of town!

Skibbereen to Kenmare had some beautiful views along the way.

Main street in Kenmare - it's good to be back.

Our 'greeter' at the cottage - despite the wind and rain she just kept on eating and talking...
