Eyeries to Allihies to Dursey Island to Castletownbere

A long day trip Sunday, made even longer by the incredibly narrow roads and the incredibly awesome landscapes! The sun and clouds made it so magical as did the stone fences, brightly colored houses, and the wild lands.
We started out the morning catching a glimpse of a White-tailed Sea Eagle soaring above the cottage. Then a drive to O'Neills pub in Allihies for lunch and stories on the old copper mining there. A few dogs to pet on the way and some stops for landscape photos and we were at Dursey Island cable car. Decided to just photograph the car as it traversed the channel. But a Gannett flew by to say hello!
Heading on to Castletownbere to see a stone circle we remembered (via a signpost) that the Dzogchen Beara, a Buddhist meditation center that sits on a hill above the Atlantic, was just ahead. We had visited there 12 years ago with friends and it was just as gorgeous now as then. When you stand several hundred feet above the Atlantic and look out - beyond words to describe.
Then to Castletownbere for a few groceries and out to the Dereenataggart Stone Circle just outside of town. And home to Bangers and Mash!
Enjoy!

A Gannett flyby..

Robert's Cove signal tower, built when a threat of a French invasion loomed.

These are from the Dzogchen Beara,

While one of the cats came up to be petted, this one was true cat - aloof but would allow you to pet him on his terms!!
