Refuge Thursday

Molly and I visited the refuge today, glad to be back there after a week away. Smoggy day, by the time I left - about 1 - the Oquirrh's were hidden by the smog. Cold, clear days and it builds up quickly.
A Bald Eagle was sitting on the eagle tree - good to see one so early. A Rough-legged was hanging out in the field, and two female pheasants flushed right next to Molly and I causing a bit of excitement! A Kingfisher came over and ate in a tree - and the Pied Bill grebe is cuteness outstanding!
Enjoy..

Juvenile Red-tailed greeted us on the way in.

Beautiful Baldie!

Looking Back..

Looking back at our time in NC, what a relaxing and regenerating time that was. The quietness of the woods, visits by the squirrels and deer, conversation with close friends, sunshine and evening fires are among the things I remember most.

This angel with a mirror for her heart was reflecting the morning sunshine off the oak leaves in this photo.

This young buck came bye on our last day to say goodbye.  We'd seen him several days during the time we were there.

Here's where we stayed, this beautiful sanctuary in the woods.

Day 5

Another incredible fall day, sunny and warm. No deer showed up today but there is so much beauty around us that it is just wonderful to be alive.

If I was a squirrel I would be doing this also :-)....

North Carolina

The weather here has been very beautiful - cool mornings and warm days - but dry which, when added to dry October has meant that the ponds you see everywhere are very low.
We had a beautiful buck yesterday morning and then the three sisters later in the day playing around the ponds. Sunshine and leaves make for some gorgeous fall photos. Here's some of the ones I liked...

Wonderful Friday

A cold morning and wonderful sunny day - pure fall weather.
A visit from an old friend who has recently taken up the guitar and he performed for us - what a treat. 64 years old and he is off on a new adventure that he loves.
A couple of young bucks checked in with us - beautiful beings. Leaves are falling like raindrops as the cold night weather works its magic on the trees.

Good morning, he seems to say!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It' a beautiful fall day here, about 50 so not too warm. Sunny with occasional clouds, birds singing, squirrels squirreling and leaves falling. We were visited by deer the morning, then I wandered around the large field up the road for some interesting shots. Here's a few of what I saw.

NC Day 2

After a good rain last night the mist was beautiful this morning.  Hard to capture in a photo but got a couple that did a decent job. Then lunch at a wonderful place with a waiter that had a weird but funny sense of humor - we all got along well.
Carey said that the deer would come today - and they came about 4:30 to 5:30. Just as it is getting dark! But a couple of shots turned out OK so I feel good about that.
Enjoy!
