Boulder visit..

Spending a few days in Boulder, UT hanging out at Boulder Mountain Lodge and eating wonderful food at Hells Backbone Grill. Afternoon clouds and thunder boomers and it is perfect!

Here's a few shots that I like...

Sunrise on the pond outside our door..

Lots of hummers here - after a few moments they ignore you and get back to the real business of eating and sword fighting!

Smoky day on Antelope Island..

Forecast was for 105 so Randy and I left about 6:30..beat the heat and all that. While we got some good photos, there were long barren stretches. Looks like all the buffalo are in the southeast corner of the island and the antelope are moving in that direction.

No confirmed coyote sightings, although one suspect. We found a new Burrowing Owl burrow not far from the old and still used burrow. Photographed a young owl peeking up from the ground and a jackrabbit hiding in the grass.

The best fun  was on our way out when we encountered a pair of Antelope kids out for a jaunt with their parents. What a pair of cuties!!

Here's ones I liked....

Adult Burrowing Owl...

Juvenile Burrowing Owl..

Classic - if I can't see you then you can't see me...

A Red Dog - young buffalo..

Buffalo had lots to eat..

Have to have a photo of a singing meadowlark when you go to Antelope..

Now the cool stuff..First the parents....

Then the kids...

Then the family....

Finally the Lonely Bull once again..

Refuge Friday

The refuge was full of surprises yesterday, from closeups with Sandhill Cranes to young coyotes playing in the fields. A horizontal Black-crowned Night Heron that looked..from a distance..like a white plastic bag was another gift.

Here's my selections..

Still some babies in the marshlands

Here's the Night Heron..from a distance I could only see the white.

Observant but not skittish - he watched me walk closer to get to a fence support for my camera..

Tree swallow hanging out in...where else..a tree!

The land is dry but beautiful

Here's the fun photos..juvenile coyotes playing..

The two below are similar but different animals. They came out of the grasses and both were looking straight at me despite my being a good 200+ feet away and on top of a hill.
