Mountain Time

We were fortunate to spend the weekend at a friends cabin above Fairview and near the Skyline Drive. Cooler weather, lots of hummingbirds, a sneaky fox .... a wonderful time. Here's a few shots from our time there.

While the Rufous H'birds ruled the feeder, occasionally a broad-tailed would sneak in.

Ever wonder what it looks like when these guys 'sword fight?"

Foxie watching us..

Great sunsets.

Nature showing off again.

MaMa was Molly's new best friend.

Broadtailed again.

Resting after one of many adventures..

And finally the domineering Rufous!

Yesterday's beauty

Yesterday I was fortunate to be able to capture two beautiful events - one was the purple day lily when the sun hit it and the other was a sunset over the Great Salt Lake!

Backyard Antics

I've had fun watching the flickers interact, with the juveniles squawking to be fed by the adults. What a pain they are!!
Then Molly decided to get closer to the squirrels that tease her and jumped on and walked along the stone wall in the backyard. What a goofball.  Fuzzy of course just watches it all with disdain!

Sunday morning hike

Molly and I went up to her swimming hole, ostensibly to wear her out chasing the ball in the water. But she had other ideas...from delaying the first jump to hiding and then losing the ball, she did not do much retrieving. But we walked through grades above my knees and chased grasshoppers and had a good time!

deciding if she wants to go after the ball

Backyard birds - again

The young Northern Flickers are out and about and two visited our backyard feeder while their Mom was feeding.  One got fed by Mom, who then flew into the tree and left the kids behind!
Quail family enjoyed fence walking, I think the parents were teaching the kids how to do this.

GBH day at the refuge

Pretty quiet this morning at the refuge except for the Great Blue Herons - GBH - who seemed to be everywhere. Kind of skittish, perhaps young ones? And one Great White Pelican did a flyby!

Back to the Uintas

Molly took her first trip to our favorite into mountain spots and she loved it, just as we thought. Running, sniffing, exploring and jumping in the streams were right up her alley!
The wildflowers are stupendous and well worth a trip to see - the wet spring has brought out so many that there are just field after field of color! Can't describe and even photos don't do it justice - you have to go see!
