Refuge morning

I visited the refuge yesterday morning before it became too hot and was rewarded with fun and beauty - life everywhere. The wet winter has enabled the cattails to grow over 6 feet tall and the rest of the wetlands grasses are significantly taller also. Of course the birds love it.

Snowy egrets were abundant.

Breakfast anyone?

I love the flight photos.

Teasels are more numerous and larger-taller than I've seen in 10 years.

Of course, ribbit showed up.

Fish for breakfast?!

Lots of "Knitting needles" around.

When you itch, you scratch!

Sometimes the kids just won't leave home!!

Juvenile coot.
