Refuge Tuesday

A short trip to the refuge on a very warm day... pretty quiet as you might expect. The white-faced Ibis are still pretty active; non-breeding Black-necked stilts and American Avocets also. A greater Yellowlegs, Great White Pelicans and a GBH rounded out the day...along with a frog..

Zoo photo walk - part two

Every good photo walk deserves a part two - for me that means going back through the photos with an ever more critical eye and deleting a lot more.
Some of the part two photos perhaps should have been noticed in part 1, but for whatever reason I didn't. So here's the results of the second pass...

Giraffes are interesting animals, just not that photogenic for me.

But, if you ever need to file down a giraffes hooves, make sure you have a large rasp and someone to feed the giraffe bread while you're working.

The Silverbacks fascinate me..

Finally a half-way decent fox photo despite the glaring fence..

Female Bengal tiger//

Three-eyes!!  The second cat behind has what looks like a monster eye!

Siberian lynx - looks a bit dorky. Or maybe he's thinking how good those kids would taste..

Fascinating face of the leopard.

The otters were performers that day - such acrobats.

The king - is he about to fall asleep or is he looking slit-eyed to be dangerous?  Sleep I think...

Zoo photo walk

Although a cloudy morning with a bit of rain, the intrepid photographers made our way to the zoo. As hoped for, the animals were a bit more active and out in the open than on a hot sunny morning. Plus the new Red Fox exhibit was finally set up - two males and two females played as if they didn't have a care in the world. Even a hummingbird stopped by to watch them.
When you look into the eyes of the Silverback I can feel a connection - soulful eyes..

Enjoy!

Pallas cat..

Amur leopard

Bengal Tiger - male. He's BIG!

River otters - they spent more time out of the water today than any prior visit.

Today the lionesses got the big rock to lay on. She's watching a helicopter fly over..

Boulder morning, Day 2

A quiet early morning walk with Molly, met some horses and cows and enjoyed being out in the cooler morning air.  Heading home today..

I have several different photos of this tree - it calls for a photo whenever I am there..

Relaxing in Boulder

We're staying at a favorite of ours, Boulder Mountain Lodge in Boulder, Utah. Temperature today is about 83, a welcome change from the heat in SL valley.
Low key stay, Molly is meeting many new people who are loving her up! There's a group of 14 cyclists on a tour here, with 10 of them from a cycling group in North Carolina. They seem to handle the elevation change quite well.
Here's a few shots from today..
