Manhattan Day 2

Today we played tourists and did a variety of things... rode the subway, visited the Statue of Liberty, saw some great views of NYC, visited Grand Central Station and had lunch at the Oyster Bar. The finale was a wonderful Italian dinner at a top-rated restaurant just a block away from our hosts!
A wonderful day, very hot and humid and we all learned a lesson about hydration, hundreds of people at the Island and on the subway - a real city experience for us country folk. We must have been noticeable as tourists (maybe my big camera gave us away) as at least three people stopped us in the subway to assist us in finding the right way to go!

Here's a few shots from the day to give a sense of my experience of the day..

96th street station was our starting and ending point.

Ellis Island in the foreground was closed due to Hurricane Sandy.

The very old and the very new come together quite well.

Love it!

Grand Central Station is celebrating it's 100th anniversary.
