Paris Day One

We had an excellent flight to Paris, arriving comfortable and on time. Not rested :-) tho'.  A long slow trip out through passport control, then picked up luggage and headed for the train - RER. Found out that the machines do not take American Visa and MC - need some other brand or coins! No bills either - so off to the window to buy the tickets which was a blessing because we got two carnet's also (pack of 10 each inside Paris tickets for RER, Metro and bus. Things work out!!

We were all pretty beat when we got to the apartment - but our landlady, Josette, met us and welcomed us in great style - croissants and dark coffee! She has a neat collection of documentation for all things close by - food, wine, coffee, etc. It is pretty easy to get around, so it seems, with public transportation. We will be doing this over the next 10 days.

Our apartment is on the second floor, looking out on and towards the Val de Grace Church. It is like looking out a bipolar window - modern day cars, etc and ancient buildings all intertwined!

Dinner later with my niece Alison who is visiting Paris with a friend, on her way to Barcelona (and from Amsterdam!). Much more tomorrow including bus and boat tours. Wonderful to be here walking the streets!

A couple of views of Val de Grace - first one from the apartment window.

Our apartment is the first set of windows above the blue first floor.
