Paris Day 9

A rainy day today, sometimes dogs and cats and sometimes just a little. We split up - the girls went to the Musee de Moderne and the guys to Eiffel tower area. We joined up later for lunch.

First a small view of the apartment we are in - it is wonderfully located in the Latin Quarter just a block from the RER station and a block from Luxembourg gardens.  With the Boulangerie just a few steps away and small grocery stores a few more steps along with an excellent wine shop just up the street - we are well taken care of.

With low clouds but still large crowds the Eiffel tower was a great scene We arrived from a different direction than last time and enjoyed a different view.  Walking across the street to the Palais de Chaillot gave a great vista to view this famous landmark.

Sean and I walked around the area, through the Trocadero, down and across the Seine, observing a couple of Velib bicycles abandoned next to the Seine. A short walk to Pont de Almay and across the bridge again brought us to a small shrine for Princess Diana next to the Eternal Flame sculpture for the Resistance'.

Showing the dogs where to poop!

The Eternal Flame.

We believe Princess Diana died in the underpass just below where this is located.

A brief tour of the Museum Moderne' and then off to find a lunch spot on the Trocadero. For a short time we were surrounded by motorcycles as the touring group (Belgiums) and the Gendarmes roared up the street and parked at the Palais.  Lunch was excellent - Diana's radar for good food working quite well - in a place with a lot of mirrors. Then Lisa and Sean headed off to the Arc de Triomphe in the rain and Diana and I meandered back to the apartment for me to rest my weary feet!

A fascinating look into the artist's mind.

Guess I like minimalism.

Wood inlay on a desk at the musee.

This gem was parked on the sidewalk next to the museum.

On the outside of the Palais de Chaillot.

Our lunch table viewed from the overhead mirrors.

The Ferrari and the Lamborghini appeared to be available to rent! A sunny dry day would have been the time to do it.
