Avocet ferocity

Driving the dikes one spring and a pair of American Avocets with one baby were walking down the side of the road in front of us.  I thought that I could slowly idle by on the far side of the road - well, Father Avocet had other ideas!
I'm in a 2500 pound truck that stands 6 feet some tall - he stands about a foot tall.  Didn't matter. He came out into the road in front of the truck and waved me down - STOP! Did it twice actually (I'm a little slow sometimes). So we waited for them to complete their walk on the road and move off into the bushes.

Would you do that?
