Refuge Friday

My friend Steve joined me for his first visit to the refuge today, we had a great day and saw lots of cool stuff!
Here's some of it..

Big bunch of pelicans out today..

Rough-legged hawk moving out..

Pelicans again - the one in the middle has a good sized carp in it's pouch!

The familiar sound of blackbirds is here..

Lots of herons around - such a goofy and gorgeous bird..

One adult bald eagle - there was also a juvenile hanging out in a tree.

Northern Harrier in pursuit of a vole..

Here's the vole....

The heron rookery is FULL!! Look closely and you'll see herons with sticks in their mouth - the beginning of the courtship routine!
