Signs

Just down our street there are several horses that will come over to the fence if you do..and sometimes people hold their kids up to 'pet' the horses.  Don't know if someone got bit or the owners just got careful, but the sign appeared last week.

Things have changed!

Another year at Farmington Bay and things have changed even more. No Bald Eagles sighted today and tomorrow is Bald Eagle Day - despite PILES of dead carp for food.  Even the gulls seem sated and only a little bit interested.
Tundra swans way out on the southern reach, GBH's standing around by a stream, Pied Bill Grebes fishing and a few hawks here and there - not a very active day as far as wildlife goes. Got to watch a pair of Kestrels take on a hawk - incredible size difference but they kept at it driving the hawk away. Raccoon tracks in the mud, Northern Harriers and seagulls flying by and a Red-tailed Hawk stopped by briefly to say hello. Of course Murphy is as handsome as always!

We get used to ignoring gulls but they are very beautiful also.

The Harrier on patrol!

Lots of food for the birds and no takers.

Raccoon tracks in the marsh mud.

Patience rewarded - After seeing nothing and sitting on top of Goose Egg Hill for 20 minutes, this guy comes barreling towards us from out in the marsh.  He then sits in the tree for a few minutes and then is off again.

Darn he is handsome!

What do you think - handsome also or ????????

Shooting around

Some shots from around the house and area.

Stansbury Island is fun to photograph.

What's a dog to do with dry dirt - Scruff, of course!  He is now known as Dusty!

Moving forward with our garden area - setting the other raised beds, an arbor is on order and then picket fences around the area. Now to decide what to plant in each bed!  Diana has seeds on order.

Valley Light

A valley of shadows and light -

Moments of Beauty

It often helps to ask yourself "what was the reason you started ....". I started photography to capture moments of beauty that otherwise would pass by unseen and unshared. Although at times I think I should be making art, asking myself why I started reminds me of the excitement and passion of capturing the moments of beauty that surround us. So I do what I do because I choose to.

Yesterday was filled with moments of beauty - here are the ones I liked the best.

Just down the road aways - Erda Way - this beauty was prancing around.

On my way home from an errand in town the rainbow appeared.

At home the meadowlark on our roof sang to greet us.

Finally the last light of the day lit the clouds with spectacular color for us to enjoy.

Transitions

Yesterday was a beautiful day, sunny and fairly warm.  A good outside working day, I borrowed my neighbor's tiller and smoothed out the areas where we are going to place the raised beds., something I've wanted to do for a while. Now to reposition some of the loose soil and then set the beds, fill them with good garden soil and plant away!
This morning the wind is howling despite clear skies - must be something coming our way. We're not very optimistic about any water from the skies - rain, I believe they call it - but the wind makes it's music and is pleasant to hear.

Here's a few photos from our walk on the dikes at Timpie Springs..

Once again a Redtailed hawk started our day with us..

Lots of trains around the valley, this one headed east

Another view of the "Point of the Mountain"

Stuff

60+ degrees yesterday with a strong southerly wind all day. Reminds us of last year at May when we moved out here and there were winds most of the time.
Quiet day here tho', some work around the yard digging out story weeds and grasses and watering the trees. Ran up to HD to get some birdseed for the platform feeder to see if the yellow-headed blackbirds will be back!

Winds and clouds.
