Refuge Monday...

Despite it being overcast at home, there was sun shining up north, so Molly and I took a trip to the refuge. Very cold wind when we got there, especially on top of GooseEgg Hill.
Duck hunting is on, so a number of hunters are out trying their luck.
The herons - along with quite a number of ducks - are hanging out where there are no hunters. We saw pelicans in their unified eating dance, Harriers hunting, swallows chasing a Kestrel, a few Snowy Egrets and lots of Grebes - both Western and Clark. Oh yes, the prize of the day was a Weasel in it's summer colors. Several good photos of it. They are very fast.....
Good to be back...

The fall light on the hills is wonderful...

Red-tailed hawk swung by..

The Grebe's redeye - I love..

POP goes the Weasel...

Swallow chasing a Kestrel. There are still lots of bugs so lots of swallows remain around...

Looking North - always a beautiful view.

Light on the Oquirrh's..

Harrier hunting - s/he had swooped down by a grebe on the way over the waterway.

Clark's Grebes..dark is above the eye..

Pelicans doing their coordinated food dance - surrounded by Grebes and other waterbirds that catch food trying to get away..

Here's the Herons - at the far north of the large puddle of water..
