Back to the Refuge

I had a few hours yesterday to visit the Farmington Bay wildlife Refuge and boy, what a day it was!  Firstly you would not see what I saw just riding down the road...that roadshow is pretty barren. But by getting out and really just being quiet, you start to see and hear a lot.
The White Pelicans checked me out on GooseEgg hill, the Sandhill Cranes were visible from there but only if you had stood around and waited for them to fly, the skunks were seen as a result of stalking cranes, etc....
A wonderful day and a great reintroduction to the refuge for me!

Birdhead!

Some people thought that I would be lost when I moved from Erda to the city because I would miss the birds. But look what I found just outside my front door today!!

More mountain shots!

Here's some more shots from our brief time in the mountains. I think I need a month up there just to clear my head good!

Wild Geraniums.

Love the roads.

just plain gorgeous.

Peek-a-boo!

Sharp-eyed Diana saw this Golden Eagle hanging out in the dead tree - the other side of that ridge is a 200 foot drop and wide open meadows!

Back to the Uinta's!

Diana, Murphy and I spent some time at our old stomping grounds in the Uinta's today, enjoying the cool breezes and mountain air and the sights and sounds. Fairly quiet for a weekend.

We started off with the Sandhill Cranes - what a sound they make! Then on to beauty and butterflies and bees and flowers and sky.........

Peter - this one is for you in honor of wide open spaces.
