Other stuff

Driving back from where we released the barn owls I found a couple of shots to take - the Momma and baby deer were very cute!

Owl Time!

Had the chance yesterday to photograph barn owls being released to the wild - fun and challenging to capture them!
I need to practice quite a bit more to get the kind of photos I want - but hey, it is exhilarating to be with the birds.

Around the yard

The arbor holds a fascination for cats to climb - here's a visitor that needed to see what was up there!

Petted one of these finches the other day - she just sat on the feeder as I approached to fill it so I petted her a couple of times and then off she flew.

Garden harvest of beets - we've had a few tomatoes, lots of chard, a few squash and lots of squash bugs!

Flower Day!

After all the work to bring the day lilies out here and plant them plus keeping them alive over the winter I have to display some of their beauty!

A day in the mountains!

We spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning in the Uintas at a friends cabin - starting out very warm on Saturday and then raining and cooling off quite a bit in the evening and early morning hours on Sunday. It was so wonderful to have rain that many of us sat out on the deck under an umbrella and ate dinner despite getting water down our backs!
Before the rain I found some wildflowers to photograph hiding in the sun-shade of the undergrowth, and then the rainstorm produced a very neat diffuse view followed by a rainbow of colors in the sky.
This morning a young grouse watched us warily and then the Sandhill Cranes appeared on our way out of the canyon.
Arriving home, I played hide-and-seek with a male Bullock's Oriole on the feeder!
Enjoy!

Moments of Beauty are all around!

Driving home from the grocery store yesterday as the sun was going down I saw this Red-tailed hawk keenly searching for food over a just cut field.
This morning colorful clouds to the south as the full moon set in the west. Later a visit to the garden yielded both squash and a photo!
