More Torrey

The Torrey area is one that is very familar and yet new.  Vistas are seen again with new eyes, and the intimate landscapes are fresh each moment.  Here's some shots from today that reflect various views.

Torrey Utah

Diana, Murphy and I drove to Torrey yesterday afternoon; met Lisa and Sean and Brodie and are looking forward to a very relaxing 3 days here!  We stopped at the RimRock Cafe to eat - it was late and the moon rose as we were finishing up.  Moonlight on the desert is sheer delight!
On the way down, just after leaving the little town of Bicknell we spotted two young bucks in a field and two Sandhill Cranes in the same field!  Managed to get a shot of each. What a delight to see them so close to humanity - the cranes.  At the Rimrock, talking to the manager, he said they had been just outside in the pond behind the rimrock yesterday!  Hummingbirds were coming to the feeder just outside the window at the restaurant, a wonderful companion to our dinner.

Wandering around the yard

81 tonight with a light breeze and clear skies; we ate out on the deck, watched the light play across the mountains and the plants as the sun moved downward. I grabbed my camera and caught a few late light shots that appealed to me.

There is always something to do in the garden - cutting, deadheading, weeding, etc.  And here's what the end of the day sometimes looks like!

Wildflowers

With all of the snow and rain I was wondering how the wildflowers were doing - Murph and I checked out some on the Eastern slope of the Uintas today.  It's still very wet and at the higher elevations still snow around - very challenging if one wants to hike. But we had the world to ourselves - along with rushing water, singing birds and beautiful deer.

One happy girl

I was leaving to visit Mom this morning, and Bailey, Jen and Ozzie were out enjoying the morning sun.  After a few attempts, Bailey showed us her joyous self - almost one year old!

A bit more beauty

The monarch visited us again today, this time wandered around close enough and long enough to get a couple of photos (200 but who's counting?  Only kept 3). Plus another view of a day lily, this one is the fire red one that the camera has a difficult time capturing the shades of red.  Enjoy!

Garden flowers

What a difference the sun makes!  A few days of heat and sunshine and the flowers just jump out at us! I cannot stop taking photos - even tho' I have taken the very similar photo last year the flowers are just so incredible that I have to take a photo! And share them!  Here's some of the beauty that abounds in our yard.

Pink, orange, green and a light brown with yellow - pulsating with life.

Rich and creamy - that is how I always feel about the water lily.

The thistles are really blue and incredibly vibrant.

A leaf - I was sitting on the front porch on the step and saw this. Amazing what sitting quietly can show you.
