Storms and the golden hour

We had a wonderful storm yesterday, a bit terrifying in the middle of it because we did not know if we would get the hail that was possible - we didn't! The sun setting after the storm was very neat plus hummers and flowers taken during the golden hour.

More Refuge

While the Ibis were playing there were a few other things happening - GBH, gulls (Laughing I think), and more herons.
When you can take some time to just watch the birds you see a lot of different things happening. You also get bit by mosquitos!!

Ibis at play!

White-faced ibis are fairly common around the wetlands and fields in the summer, and they are beautiful birds up close, especially in breeding plumage. From a distance they look black, a bit like cormorants, so often get ignored.
Their feathers have iridescent colors - shimmering green, purple, red, brown, etc. depending on what angle you are looking from and the angle of the sun. They squawk like a heron when disturbed but normally do not seem to be too concerned with humans.

Here's a couple I saw today!

Hanging with Hawks!

Murph and I took a short road trip yesterday, driving in a circle from home to Stansbury and up to Miller Motorsports on Sheep Lane; then into town and down Droubay and back home. Along the way we spotted and photographed 10 different hawks!! Most are Swainsons but there is a Ferruginous in there also. But they are incredibly beautiful!

These last two are the same bird - he sat there and screamed at me!

First Farmer's Market at Tooele Valley Nursery yesterday morning and caught this cute pair of cowboy boots on a very young lady
Bird baths, hibiscus flowers, and sunrise panoramas comprise the rest!
